Education
Kauai was awesome. While it wasn’t a bustling community of Starbucks and GameStop I was hoping for, it certainly had many other things to keep me occupied. Hiking, sightseeing, driving, canyons, cliffs, waterfalls, more driving, animals, dinner, tourists, even more driving. It was very… country-ish. The bed and breakfast that I stayed at was great. A big, sprawling house with a huge yard, complete with a small waterfall, and the friendly house dogs. It was pretty sweet. Made me really feel at home.
There is certainly something different about Kauai when compared to Oahu. Maybe it is the lack of Starbucks. I mean come on, there was only ONE Starbucks. Only one GameStop too. Then again, I wasn’t really there to shop or anything. Everything on that island probably gets shipped over to this island as well, so no big loss. I suppose the trip was simply to get away from, well, home.
You may have noticed that the site was down for a few days. I decided to do a little work on the site, and just as I finished, MySQL died and I had to wait until it revived for things to really get rolling. Anyway, I did a few visual updates, some cleaning, said goodbye to AJAX, and added some content. Same old, same old, but better than nothing. I’m intent on sticking with this design, at least for a while longer. I’ve got some other ideas in my mind, and I’ll work on them over the next few days.
Anyway, as for after Kauai, things have been pretty much the same. I did start school this past Wednesday. Passed my reading/comprehension test with flying colors - no surprise there. My Reggie/Wii shirt also came in, so I’m happy about that. I plan to take my permit test sometime within the next week, and hopefully, the license test soon after.
Did I mention that I got promoted to Kawaii Kon Staffing Director, in addition to already being the Kawaii Kon Operations Director? Throw in the fact that I’m the webmaster for most GE2 properties, and that’s a heavy load. I had my first staff meeting recently, and I totally sucked at it. The next one will be better, I promise.
Anyway, I’m gone. Got some studying to do, and lots of gaming.
Update: Again, I did a little work on the site. Fixed a few errors, completely changed the way URLs are handled, added some page titles. I did more work on the backend though, so hopefully things will be a little smoother this time around.

Kawaii Kon 2006
Ok, so right now, you DO NOT know how incredibly tired I am. I mean, holy crap, tired is an understatement. So I finished unpacking - all my new items are now either on display or stored somewhere. I took a bunch of pictures too, and I’ll put them up later.
I missed much more this year than I did last year. I did get to enjoy the Yoko Ishida concert (which rocked). Then on Sunday, we met with Yoko at the pool and took a picture and got her autograph, so that was pretty cool (Yoko in a bikini!). I got tons of DVDs, tons of manga, a few toys, lots of figures, some autographs, and really just a lot of stuff. I did miss out on Jin Kobayashi, which makes me kind of sad.
I want to thank all the friends that I saw. It was good fun seeing you and getting a chance to catch up a little. Aaron let me know earlier next time so I can get you, Amixa and Alton in free - then you won’t have to stand in that horrible line all over. I saw you move slowly every time I ran past the line, and felt so bad I couldn’t help you guys out. I look forward to seeing you all again, and hopefully I can actually do more hanging out and less working.
Thanks to my staff and to all the Kawaii Kon staff for all the hard work they put in. You guys were all amazing and I can’t wait to do it all over again. You guys exceeded expectations and I’m so glad that we got this rare chance to work together. You guys know exactly what a convention is about, and you guys are the only ones who get to experience it fully.
I only cried a little this year (no, really). I am now going to sleep a little, maybe eat something first… but I definitely need more sleep. Then I have lots of downloads and TV to catch up on, plus more cleaning…

Mixed Tape
Kawaii Kon 2006 begins today, at least for me. I’ll be at the hotel, and probably on the convention floor a lot, so look me up if you need help or just say hello. I’ve spent a year waiting for this single weekend, and one thing that I’m sure of is that its going to fly by.
Everything is going to be a blur.
I hope I can get some Metroid Prime Hunters game time in, I need practice before the season begins. I hope DSmeet stays sane and that Nitro grows…
Not much to write… I should have lots more after the convention.

Fort Minor
I was taking a look at the logs for my web server. I found that a huge amount of people link and refer to my site. Especially since I had a few of the Revolution controller pictures hosted on my server. I get hits even today requesting those pictures. So many different people and sites visit, that I find it incredibly amazing. Search engines seem to like my website a lot too, as I find links to my site on the first page of results when searching for specific topics.
By the way, because I’m a Kawaii Kon Director, I get a few passes to Kawaii Kon 2006 if anyone would like to come and enjoy. They are completely free, and are valid for the duration of the convention. If you’d like one, message me to let me know. You have to tell me sometime soon, since I have to personally request these passes and relay your information through the proper channels. Also, I only want to give them out to people who will actually attend and enjoy the event; I don’t want to waste these passes.

Poor alien girl.
While Fort Minor may not be Linkin Park, Mike is still involved with it, and thats reason enough for me to check it out. Thankfully I did, and I found myself enjoying the rap-oriented music that I found. It was somewhat Linkin Park, a little pop, and rap. I really hate rap, but I can enjoy it when I hear Mike rapping. He stays far away from the topics of whores and rides, which are some of the topics that I despise in mainstream rap.
Played Resident Evil 4. Played Animal Crossing. Did some research for general web design. Still waiting for my Final Fantasy VII figures. Finished another mission in Advance Wars Dual Strike. Lost a mission in Advance Wars Dual Strike. Played more of Resident Evil 4. Watched Joey, Will & Grace, and Everwood. Continued watching DNAngel.
Anyway, time for a restart.

Magical Ninjas
So for all the staffers of Kawaii Kon, the all-important ‘Meet & Greet’ has now been scheduled. While its not required to attend, it still would be nice to come. The founders of Kawaii Kon are flying in to talk some and get to know everyone. Department Directors (including myself) and other staffers will be on hand to answer questions. This will also be another chance for people to sign-up to volunteer for the convention. You can contact me for more information about that, or check the Kawaii Kon website/forums.
I believe last year there were some prize giveaways, and its supposed to be happening this year as well. Refreshments are also available. Its also a good chance to meet fellow con-goers and other people, if you need a few new friends. You can also pay for your Kawaii Kon membership there.
What: Kawaii Kon Founders Meet & Greet
When: 7:30 PM on Friday, November 4th
Where: The Carnation Room, 2nd floor of the Ala Moana Hotel
Also, October is Kids & Youth Month here in Hawaii, and it begins with a number of events happening this Sunday at the State Capitol. Kawaii Kon staff and friends will be around advertising the convention, and I’ll probably make it too if I haven’t already drowned from the rain. Most of us should be wearing Kawaii Kon t-shirts, and probably be focused near the Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament area, since we’re partnering up with DaPlanet to make this happen. The tournaments will be held at room 239 in the Capitol building, so look there for the Kawaii Kon community, or if you feel like playing Yu-Gi-Oh. If you want, you can even join the Kawaii Kon community in its advertising efforts, just meet up with us at 9:30 AM in the room mentioned above.
As always, all the information on Kawaii Kon, it’s community, and it’s efforts are on the official website and message boards. So send me an e-mail, a private message, or look for me on the message boards and these events for more information.
