Further From Away

The new year quickly crept upon me. Now, its here. One of the best years of my lives has come and gone, and what a ride it has been. Now with this new beginning, more things seem to falling on me. Kawaii Kon is now about 3 months away. StrategyWiki is slowly getting off the ground, and DS Meet has taken off like a wild fire. Personally, life could not be better. Sometimes I wonder how I got here… and then I remember it all.

By the way, that picture up there is all the flyers and ‘postcards’ that I have for Kawaii Kon 2006. That’s not even all of them. I don’t know why I have so much, but I guess that means I’ll have to distribute them somehow. The flyers aren’t even really flyers too… they’re all gigantic glossy expensive advertisements. I feel almost bad just having to hand out such nice glossy paper. Plus there are tons of other boxes of them, waiting to be distributed.

Oh, and this Sunday, I’ll be at the New Year’s ‘Ohana Festival at the Japanese Cultural Center. I’ll certainly try to enjoy myself, but I’m mostly going to promote Kawaii Kon at our official booth. Plus, we get blocks of time to show anime or some promotional footage… hopefully something interesting.

Also, keep on the lookout for our commercial being shown on the ‘Anime Network On Demand’. Yeah, not the very best place for a commercial, but it’s better than nothing. There’s a special code shown during the commercial that will get you a discount.

Memoirs of a Geisha was an awesome movie. Just like Narnia. Both awesome movies.

Completed a few updates to the site. I fixed a few errors, added some information, and updated the system software. Much better now. I also did some updating to a few of the other sites I manage.

Now, I am slightly tired. Today was… one of ‘those’ days. Yeah… THOSE. In any case, I’m gonna see if I can patch things up, then get some shut eye…

I don’t know why, but I’ve always had an interest in pixel art. Maybe it’s because I love 2D gaming so much, with sprites and all. But yeah, pixel art is like a lost form. There aren’t many people who do it, but I suppose I can understand why. Everybody is a graphics whore (well almost everybody). It really sucks that when people talk about video games, the first topic is usually related to how many polygons the games produces. That’s just sad, at least to me.

In any case, I decided to finally start getting into pixel art. I posted the two that I made tonight up on deviantART. One is a simple piece of paper, and the other was an incredibly tiny rendition of the Nintendo DS. I’m obviously not skilled at the moment, so I started out small and simple. I used a little shading, and tried to add a feel of depth. Anyway, take a look:

Anyway, I’ll work on more stuff and get it all on deviantART. I’m going to try to make some Nintendo consoles to use on my blog, and other images to use in various other areas.

Also, I did some work on the site. Nothing really major; some cosmetic work and some slight formatting changes here and there. As I mentioned earlier, I’m going to try and work on more pixel art, specifically, ones that I can use on this site. Maybe add a little color… I don’t really know. There isn’t much left for me to do with this version… I love it too much to get rid of it, or to make any real big changes to it.

Anyway, today was tiring. I don’t know why. Today was also slightly emo, and I don’t know why. I’m hungry.

It’s kind of weird that this house has been empty for such a long time. No annoying television on in the living room, or loud radio in the back yard. Only me. Definitely weird…

Oh, and I love you too Kammo!

So as you can see above, I picked up the brand new Bleach DS game. So far, I’m liking it a lot. I’ll write up some additional impressions later on, I’m too busy playing it at the moment. I also picked up a Biohazard 4 toy… unfortunately, I didn’t get Leon or Ada… it ended up being the chainsaw guy. But that’s okay, I have fond memories of him using his chainsaw on me… one too many times.

So as soon as I finish playing some more Bleach, I have to finish off Zettai Shonen so I can write a review.

Let’s see. There was another staff meeting on Wednesday for Kawaii Kon. Of course I attended, and it was quite eventful. We pretty much filled the room to capacity with otakus. Considering that the room wasn’t too big, that isn’t a very good thing. Jon and Lauren played Ouendan to death. Jon even decided to buy Ouendan now that he has had a taste of it. Such an awesome game. Anyway, there was a new guest announcement. I had only learned of it the night before. The creator or School Rumble is coming. That will definitely be awesome. I love School Rumble, so I will make it a point to mingle with him and get his signature. Hopefully, he speaks a little English.

Alright, anyway, back to Bleach.
